Yesterday, a friend came over to bring some stuff for me. We hadn’t seen each other in 3 years so we had a lot of catching up to do. I found out that he has two girls, the second one coming after 7 years. He said that they had two miscarriages in between, because his wife was diagnosed with APAs (Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome).
She isn’t the first I know who was diagnosed with that. In fact, in my little circle of friends, I know 4 other people who have the same “problem”.
S and I have discussed this and we wonder it seems like a lot of people have it. Have they finally found another name for miscarriage? Is it in something we eat (this is a scary thought!)??? Is it in the air(scarier thought!)? Is it because we’re all older?
When we got pregnant with K sometime last year, we were both *a bit* surprised…but looking back, we realize and are thankful to Him for giving us K. First, we didn’t have a difficult time conceiving; second, the pregnancy was uneventful (the birth was, though!); third, that we have a healthy happy baby!
Realizing what could be the case for others could have been the same for us, S and I are truly grateful for our little family. We do pray for our friends who have been trying to have their own precious little ones. Ultimately we believe that everything happens, in God’s time.
