Matryoshka

   My own matryoshka dolls!!!

When I was a little girl, I remember watching this video on Sesame Street several times. Until now, when I watch it, it brings back happy childhood memories.

Imagine my delight when I received this package today!!!
I’ve always wondered why I love these dolls. On hindsight, perhaps I have always known that I was going to be a mom.
Few facts copied from the side of the box:

Every Matryoshka doll is special, because, in order for a set to fit perfectly, all the Matryoshka dolls must be made from a single unique piece of wood. For generations, Matryona and Matryoshka were common names in Russian. Both names come from the Latin root word “mater” for “mother.

Not only a matryoshka doll, a pair of Havaianas Matryoshka!! This summer, Havaianas launches its 2011 Havaianas Slim Dolls Collection! Each slipper has a little doll on the strap. The Slim Matryoshka comes in the following colors: Sugar Coral, Dark Brown/Golden Sun (which is what I got, thanks so much Havaianas Philippines and GMCI!)
Check out the adorable charm!!!

These also come in two other designs, the Havaianas Slim Brazilian, and the Havaianas Slim Kokeshi, which have such cute charms as well.

Green hornet Donuts

Hey thanks again to Krispy Kreme for the Green Hornet donuts!!

I obviously didn’t see much as this was what I saw when I got home.

Guess they were well liked! Thanks GMCI!!

Pulp-X on the loose!

After our sumptuous dinner at Gloria Maris, S and I found this when we returned home!
Inside the box was this odd looking cake…

With a picture of some wanted guy included! This is supposedly “Pulp-X” who is on the loose, and a certain Mr Ang wants me to call him.

But we were too busy with the cake. Look:

I am totally curious to what this is. Still waiting to call Mr. Ang!
Abangan ang susunod na kabanata!

Willy Wonka

Look at this happy camper! Was certainly surprised when I got home today and found a hat-full of Carameldelicious (please say that very fast, 10 times!)!

As I’m such a sucker for caramel, I absolutely loved it! It has the crrrrunch of rice krispies, the milky taste of chocolate, and absolutely gooey sweet caramel! HEAVEN! But can’t have too much so we shared it with the girls at home.

Thank you GMCI and Candy Corner!

Thank you, my Epic Friend!

My Epic Friend and I go waaaaaay back. We have been friends for approximately 28 years, since the 6th (me) and 7th (her) grade.

Together, we have had the funniest and most memorable moments! One of the epic moments was when we were confronted by a dog after we walked home from shopping. Another was when we set off the smoke alarm when we baked!

She was my constant sounding board about my exploits (let’s not get into that — HAHAHA!), and I was hers (nope, not getting into that either!). We were constant companions all throughout highschool. However, her family migrated to Canada right after her senior year.

It was sad, yes, but we kept in touch, with (at that time) a lot of snail mail. Look, she actually compiled all my letters to her!

She had been returning every other year or so (stretching to nearly 3 years at a time in the more recent past) for weddings, and a few vacations. When she returned last in 2006 or 2008, she said that it was probably her final trip to Manila, because there was no real reason for her to come back, as there are no more weddings to attend, nor family to visit, and perhaps, it was my turn to visit her.

Finally, this year was THE year. Yep, I made that trip to Canada, where she has been living for the past 20+ years. And I was so glad I did.

We were able to rekindle old ties, and make new ones. I don’t think it’s going to ever be the same, as distance truly (pardon the pun) gets in the way. But as I mentioned in my note to her, relationships really need to be worked at, and that while I may have not been in touch a lot before, the trip helped in my understanding why I should.

So we should reach out to each other, halfway, to enable to continue that friendship we have been at for so long.

So thank you, my Epic Friend, SS!
